Keeping Your Immune System Strong! Tips, Tricks, and Treats!

Keep your Immune System Strong!

Prevention saves a pound of cure.  Let’s talk about our first line of defense when it comes to ‘Flu Season’.  Our Immune System!  A happy, healthy, and strong Immune System is our first line of defense when it comes to avoiding the flu and other viruses and bacteria.  Here is a simple list of things you can do to stay strong and healthy during this time:

~Get plenty of sleep~

When you’re low on sleep, your body is vulnerable to attack from pathogens that you would otherwise be able to fight off. It’s during sleep that your brain signals to your body that it’s time to make and circulate the hormones and proteins necessary to keep your immune system in excellent shape.

What is a good sleep routine?  Shut down electronics at least 1 hour before you go to bed.  Opt instead to read a good old-fashioned book to help you nod off.  Make a cup of Chamomile & Peppermint tea.  Use a couple drops of lavender in a bedside diffuser.  Create a sleep haven in your bedroom.  Try and get a good 7-9 hours of real sleep, uninterrupted and long enough for your body to heal and recharge.

If you are struggling with sleep, we have some great things for you.  Herbal formulas like ‘Suan Zao Ren Tang’ – can help.  Getting regular massage treatments can also help your body to relax and promote sleep.  Adding the lymphatic upgrade to your massage will support your immune system and help you sleep!

~Acupuncture~

The use of regular acupuncture treatments and moxibustion has been shown to help fortify and strengthen the immune system, making it very resilient to viruses and infection.

How acupuncture works,   regular treatments help the brain increase the body’s level of T-cells; cells which destroy bacteria and harmful viruses in the body.  The effect can last days after treatment – bringing the body into balance and strong enough to fight off any germs you may encounter.

Regular acupuncture treatments, in conjunction with TCM herbal formulas and healthy eating and sleeping habits will keep your immune system strong and healthy.
