Mmm….Nothing Says Holiday Like Brewing Up YAO’s Chai Tea!
No tea says Holiday Cheer better than chai and YAO has one of the best chais EVER!
Our Milky Chai recipe will fill your home with warmth and holiday cheer with a delightful medley of aromas drifting from your kitchen pot. This awesome recipe has a multitude of contributors who have assisted in its perfection! (Thank you Sherry, Hope & Margaret)
• 15 grams (3 TBSP) loose YAO Masala Chai
• 2 cups water
• 2 cups Califia Unsweetened Almond Milk Creamer OR 2 cups Califia Vanilla Almond Milk Creamer (this a slightly sweeter version that does not require additional sugar)
• 3-5 pieces of freshly sliced ginger, or 1-2 TBSP freshly grated ginger
Add all ingredients to a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium/high heat. Stir, scraping the bottom of the pan to avoid scalding the almond milk. Once it reaches a boil, turn down the heat and continue to stir. Allow tea to simmer 3-5 minutes.
Increase the heat again and let the tea come to 1-2 more vigorous boils for approximately 2-3 minutes each time, reducing the heat and simmering/stirring after each boil. The color of the tea will turn to a rich dark brown. Strain carefully into a mug. Sweeten to taste with raw sugar, honey or coconut honey, then serve and enjoy! Yum!
