WHO WE ARE AND HOW WE WORK

YAO Clinic is a premiere Chinese Medical clinic and has been in business for 20 years. YAO is the brain child of Daniel Hudson, LAc/Doctoral Fellow in TCM who has held an incredible vision for not only the expression of Chinese Medicine in the United States, but the experience of the current day American patient. YAO is fortunate to piggy back on the incredible professional reputation of Daniel Hudson, whose studies go beyond the limitations of Chinese Medicine and expand into graduate studies in Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology and Cosmology. Due to YAO being an extension of his reputation, the team of individuals gathered by Daniel are required to be dedicated to the core in their practice with the highest standards of professionalism. Whether it be those handling reception positions, our licensed massage therapists in YAO Bodywork, estheticians in YAO Beauty, LAc’s in YAO Medicine or our highly trained and skilled Administrative staff, everyone is asked to step up and present their A game.

At YAO, everyone is hired as an employee. We do NOT ever work in contract relationships. This arrangement allows for us to truly work as a team. We have designed innovative employment opportunities that allow for our practitioner employees to truly take ownership of their position by creating inspiring compensation programs that encourage the growth of their personal patient base while allowing the entirety of YAO to be right there to support them. All departments work seamlessly together on cases…and there are many cases that are NOT easy! So if you are up for a challenge, up for being part of an exciting cutting edge innovative clinic that is going nowhere but upward, keep on reading about the opportunities we currently have available.

MASSAGE THERAPIST

yaoMassageTherapist - Opportunities

YAO Bodywork is currently looking for new bodyworkers to join our team. YAO Clinic is in a soft-launch phase for our recurring monthly membership, and we anticipate the demand for massage in our YAO Bodywork department to be in a phase of rapid growth.

It’s important that we clarify a bit about YAO Bodywork and how we structure employment at YAO as we feel we are quite different than many other places that would employ a massage therapist. All of our massage therapists are employees of YAO Clinic and we do not work in contracted employment relationships. Creating an environment of employees allows everyone to function at YAO as a team member in our patients’ overall health and wellness. This means that someone in YAO Bodywork may come across something that may be important for a YAO Medicine provider to come take a look at or hear about while they are with a client/patient. Alternatively – any expression on the skin witnessed by the bodyworker will be communicated or collaborated on with YAO Beauty.

YAO Clinic is NOT looking for “just a massage therapist”. We are looking for extremely dedicated individuals who are passionate about their profession and the work they do. The successful candidate for a position as a massage therapist at YAO will have the following qualifications in the bag!

  • Passion for the profession. This means – you want to live, breathe and dream massage therapy. Current techniques, hot topics happening in the profession, and consistent continuing education should be the norm. The question of “how can I better myself to be of service to my clients”? And the passion of “I can’t wait to learn this” -should be embodied in the individual applying for this position at YAO Clinic.
  • Desire to learn Chinese Medical bodywork approaches including Tui Na, Cupping and Gua Sha or Chi Nei Tsang
  • Prior knowledge of basic Chinese Medicine principals or experience with Chinese Medicine is a huge plus
  • Knowledge about how to best create a plan of care for your clients within the framework of massage therapy is essential. This refers to knowing frequency and necessity for follow up appointments based on clients’ reporting of symptoms, practitioner’s assessment post-treatment, and recommended standards of care for follow up in the profession that are evidence based protocols for clinical improvement.
  • Ability to communicate this plan of care and the benefits that will be received both to the patient and the front desk staff can not be emphasized enough. The appointment is NOT complete at the end of the massage.
  • Wonderful interpersonal skills used for: communicating patient/client issues to other health care providers at YAO so that the patient/client can receive the BEST care YAO has to offer, communicating maturely and effectively with all other staff at YAO.
  • High level of written and verbal communication. This may seem trivial as it relates to bodywork, but we believe at YAO that being able to pick up the phone and call our patients/clients as needed and talk with them about their plan of care or find out how they are doing after a surgery, etc. extends to our massage therapists as well. There absolutely HAS to be a comfort level about being able to call up the people you have been working with and see how they are doing. Likewise, being able to email them when necessary is also imperative. Written skills would include good grammar and proper spelling as well as a well structured paragraph of communication.
  • Tech saavy skills – Our massage therapists are asked to take notes in an electronic health record, check in/out using an online system on an iPad, and occasionally use email or the internet. So some level of tech saavy is absolutely necessary.
  • Personal Emotional Intelligence is key! We are very busy with extremely difficult cases at YAO Clinic and value our patient’s out of pocket resources immensely. Therefore, we do not tolerate petty chit chat or gossip at YAO. Everything communicated in and between employees is to build and strengthen the team, allow for growth of each individual involved and create top notch care for our patients.
  • Willingness to live a life that YAO purports. This is something you will learn as you go at YAO, but understanding that you may be asked to remove gluten, dairy and eggs from your diet and have a willingness to create your own wellness while applying YAO cosmological lenses and taking the time to understand the why and the how will be essential.
  • Must be licensed as a Massage Therapist in the state of Colorado and have 750 Hours of Massage education additional preference will be extended to those who have passed the BECTMB Exam for National Certification.

YAO has a wonderful wellness program for its employees based on the number of hours that they are at YAO. We are very proud of our deep caring for the staff that supports our patients.

Compensation is based on experience and is designed in a way that respects the employees’s time that they set aside to be at YAO. The structure will be described on an individual basis.

HOW TO APPLY

We begin our hiring process with candidates submitting their resume AND COVER LETTER – to [email protected] In the cover letter, please include why you are interested in YAO Clinic (what intrigues you, how you know of us, etc.), why you are interested in Chinese Medicine and what your level of dedication to this field is. From there, the top candidates will meet with the owner Daniel Hudson and will also be asked to complete a practical portion of the interview with a full 60 minute massage – not necessarily with Daniel, but with one of our YAO staff qualified to assess.
