    FERTILITY SUPPORT

Preparing the body for pregnancy is as important as maintaining prenatal health during pregnancy. Lifestyle changes including stress reduction, regular exercise, and dietary improvements are some choices that can help to increase fertility. Chinese Medicine supports healthy lifestyle changes and offers acupuncture and internal herbal medicine that many women have found useful in regulating the menstrual cycle, often jumpstarting fertility. Please visit our Resources section to begin this process.

    PRENATAL HEALTH

Chinese Medicine offers a comprehensive approach to prenatal health, including treatments for common challenges (such as morning sickness, water retention, and maintaining pregnancy) and support for the birthing process. We can help you construct an excellent prenatal diet, recommend certain prenatal vitamins, and create an overall plan for prenatal and birthing success.

    POST-natal

Chinese Medicine offers a wide range of treatment options for continued health following pregnancy. Hormone changes, lactation, post-partum depression and sleep-deprivation are stressors that often plague new mothers. We can assist you creating a smooth transition into motherhood, increasing milk production, and normalizing your body's functions to improve and maintain your overall post-natal health.

    PLACENTA ENCAPSULATION SERVICE

Please contact us prior to the birth of your child(ren) to arrange this service. Please inform your doctor or midwife of your plans to retrieve your placenta. We must receive your placenta within three days of giving birth – keep it refrigerated in resealable plastic storage bags. Allow 2-3 days of preparation to have your placenta returned to you in capsule form.

The placenta can be a valuable part of the post-partum healing process for both mom and baby. For thousands of years, the Chinese have used placenta as herbal medicine. In our herbal Materia Medica, it is used as a regenerative to the body’s Qi, blood, yin and yang. Because placenta is a medicine in our Materia Medica, it has has been analyzed for its chemical components. The analysis shows that the placenta contains birth and pregnancy hormones (oxytocin, prolactin, gonadotrophin, thyroid stimulating hormone) and various proteins. It is these components that may aid in this transition of motherhood, such as augmenting lactation, shortening bleeding time and preventing mood fluctuations in the post-partum days. Your placenta is rinsed thoroughly, steamed with tonifying herbs and dehydrated. Then it is ground finely and encapsulated.

pediatric services & shonishin Pediatric Acupuncture

    Pediatric services

Chinese Medicine offers a variety of treatment options for children. Pediatric appointments are abbreviated to 1/2 to 1 hour sessions.

Shonishin

A specialized form of treatment for infants and children that has been renowned since the 1700s in Japan. Today, parents regularly bring children for shonishin treatment, an approach to children's health that is increasing in popularity around the world.

Children’s bio-energetic systems are not fully formed and, being at the most “yang” phase of their existence, their Qi moves extremely rapidly. Children’s systems can be easily overstimulated and health problems can progress rapidly. Shonishin focuses on gentle, specialized treatment techniques that children find comfortable and even pleasurable. Dramatic results can be obtained even with very light treatment.
